About us
Prep The Food was founded in 2018 by MOAD (me) and my mother Saadia. I was a fanatic athlete and personal trainer, and my mother was/is a caring housewife. As a Personal Trainer I soon discovered that all my PT customers could schedule that one hour of exercise, but that it was a problem for their diet for the rest of the day. Often there was no time, there was other priorities, there was no motivation, or people simply did not know something to eat. Because I had been working on fitness, food and a healthy lifestyle for some time, thanks to my mother, I decided to offer my PT customers nutritious meals prepared by my mother. Simply simple, from home. At that time, in 2018, this was still quite unique. Almost nobody did this, and for many people it was unknown. A sports meal? What is that?
Because this turned out to be such a success and more and more people asked for it, my mother and I decided to tackle it more professionally. We worked on a website, a real production location, and of course marketing. From 50 meals a week to 50 meals per day, and from 50 meals a day to 1000 meals per day. It went fast! In no time we had to leave our first building and moved to a larger building. Literally all my savings were in the company, but we did it for the future. Bigger, better and more professional for the future!
Of course this sounds like a great success, but growth means investing, growing pain and everything that comes with it: more staff (and with staff I literally mean everyone I know we wanted to help us for nothing), automation, better packaging, customer service, website, and so on. It wasn't easy, I can tell you!
In addition to the business successes and struggles, you naturally also have your personal challenges, such as COVID-19, the death of my father, a relationship and of course my own health and fitness lifestyle. We soon discovered that it takes a huge amount of time, money, energy and effort to set up and run a successful company.
After all the setbacks in the past, we can nowadays proudly say that we have built up a successful company and that nothing is crazy for us. In fact, we just got used to it, I think, because the setbacks stay, but you learn to deal with it, haha. I am still a full owner of Prep The Food, together with my mother. We have a close team that feels more as a family than as a staff, and we are not nearly ready yet!
My girlfriend is now my wife, and luckily my mother can work a little less than before. Fortunately I no longer have to do everything myself, because I get help from my colleagues. Looking back on this adventure, we are very happy with how it went. We are proud!
